Stream daylighting

I just learned a new term: stream daylighting. It means the uncovering of streams that have been buried when cities expanded. Mostly because we wanted streets or houses, but also because of hygenic reasons or flooding danger. It reminded me of the newly discovered landscape under the Antartic ice with rivers and hills and valleys. A development which scares me as much as it fascinates me. Just imagine a little part of our world that is brand new, pure, without human disruption. The article talks about maybe even more landscapes that are yet to be discovered and this hurts. Why not let it be?

Silence making me silent

It is a crazy experience for me to be able to bike to a forest where absolute silence predominates. Only 30 minutes away and mainly through busy outskirts of Uppsala, but 10 minutes after entering the forest, civilization seems to fade away. It is never silent though, as usual my brain is braining a lot, but even those thoughts are calming to an easy flowing stream instead of a wild river.

From the zombie zone

You’ve probably seen them in movies: people having a near death experience and realising “life is too short” and that they have been throwing away their precious years in their grey cube looking at a computer screen until their eyes watered (yes I know very American, I blame Netflix). Or you actually know someone who had an eureka moment like this, that’s also cool. I did not have an eureka moment but being in bed for six days and finally FINALLY feeling better, I felt a renewed thankfullness for the good things. Like music. And dancing. And being able to breath through my mouth without sounding like a guiro (the wooden instrument that is also found in the shape of a frog).

Afternoon stroll

I took a walk to the small lake behind the mansion. I was told this lake was frozen the whole winter and I was curious how my future ice-skating place to be looked like. Also, I read in my book about the power of nature with healing the body and my throat was doing worse in spite of my well-planned nine hour sleep. It needed some healing, and badly and soon. Another reason to go for a late afternoon stroll.
